Your first visit sets the baseline for everything that follows, and it is also how we get to know each other. It is for anyone new to the practice, whether you are overdue for care or simply moving to a dentist closer to home. We do a complete examination: an oral cancer screening, a periodontal evaluation, an analysis of how your bite comes together, and a careful look at your teeth and the structures supporting them. Digital X-rays come up on screen right away, so we can look at them together rather than describe them to you. Then we go through what we found. What needs attention now, what can wait, and what it will cost, sequenced around your schedule and your budget. Nothing is decided for you.

Our hygiene program is built to prevent new cavities, protect the work you have already had done, and keep gum disease in check. It is the least expensive dentistry there is, and the reason most of our patients never need anything more complicated. A hygiene visit includes a professional cleaning, a check of your gum health, and a look at anything that has changed since last time. At your first hygiene visit we review your home routine together, and we build on it at every recall. Most patients do best on a six-month rhythm, but if your history calls for more frequent visits we will tell you why rather than simply booking them.

Today's ceramic and composite materials are strong, durable and matched to the shade of your own enamel, so a repaired tooth simply looks like a tooth. They are the standard choice for cavities and for small chips and fractures. We remove the decay, place and shape the material, and check the bite before you finish, so the tooth feels right when you leave rather than three days later. Most fillings are a single appointment. We will talk through the material we recommend for that particular spot and why, since the right choice depends on where the tooth sits and how hard it has to work.

A crown covers a tooth that has lost too much structure to decay or fracture, restoring both the strength and the look of it. Crowns also cover implants, anchor bridges, keep a cracked tooth from getting worse, and rescue a badly discolored one. Yours is made in the lab from porcelain, all-ceramic, or porcelain fused to metal, depending on where it sits and how hard it has to work. We take the impressions, fit a temporary, and seat the final crown at a second visit. We will show you what we see before we recommend one. A crown is a significant piece of work and it should be clear to you why it is the right call.

A missing tooth does more than change how a smile looks. It shifts the bite, loads the remaining teeth unevenly, and over time changes the shape of the face. A bridge closes the gap and protects what is still there. A fixed bridge stays in the mouth permanently, carried by the healthy teeth on either side of the space. Those teeth are prepared and crowned, and the replacement tooth is joined between them, so the whole unit looks and works like your own teeth. It usually takes two visits. A bridge is not the only way to replace a tooth, and we will lay out how it compares to an implant or a removable partial before anything is decided. Cost, longevity and what it asks of the neighboring teeth all factor in, and we will be straightforward about each.

When several teeth are missing, or all of them, dentures give back what the gaps took: the ability to chew comfortably, to speak clearly, and the natural support your lips and cheeks lost along the way. A full denture replaces an entire arch and rests on the gum. A partial fills in around the teeth you still have and clasps onto them for stability. Both come out for cleaning, and both are made to fit your mouth specifically, which is why the process runs across a few appointments: impressions, a try-in to check the bite and the look, then the finished set. Dentures have a reputation for slipping, and the honest answer is that lower ones sometimes do. Where that is a concern we will talk about anchoring them to implants, which holds them firmly and changes the experience completely. We would rather raise it upfront than have you discover the problem later. If you are wearing a set that no longer fits, bring it in. Mouths change shape over the years, and a reline or a remake is often simpler than people expect.

When decay or infection reaches the nerve, root canal therapy saves the natural tooth and avoids the need for an implant or bridge. The usual signs are sharp pain, or lingering sensitivity to hot and cold that does not settle. We remove the injured pulp, then clean and seal the canal system under local anesthesia. Depending on the tooth, that is one visit or two, and a crown usually follows to protect what is left. If you are in pain, call the office first rather than waiting for an appointment slot online. We would rather hear what is going on and find you room.

Our goal is always to keep your natural tooth. When removal is the right call, because of severe decay, a fracture below the gum, advanced gum disease or crowding, we handle both simple and surgical extractions with local anesthesia and a gentle hand. You will leave with clear aftercare instructions and a way to reach us if anything does not feel right over the next few days. Most patients are surprised by how uneventful it is. If the tooth needs replacing, we will have that plan ready at the same visit rather than sending you away to think about it alone.

An implant replaces a missing tooth in two parts: a titanium body that takes the place of the root, and a tooth-colored crown cemented on top. It is the closest thing there is to getting the tooth back. Implants can also anchor dentures, especially lower ones that shift while you talk or chew, and they fill the gaps left by a removable partial for a more natural smile. Treatment runs over several months while the implant integrates with the bone. Not everyone is a candidate, and we will tell you plainly if you are not. Where an implant does fit, it is usually the option that lasts longest.

Coffee, tea, red wine and time all leave their mark on enamel. Professional whitening lifts that staining in a way drugstore strips cannot, because the concentration is higher and the application is even. Our in-office bleaching system brightens teeth in a single appointment. Take-home trays, made to fit your teeth exactly, get you there over a few days at your own pace. Which one suits you depends on how much time you have and how your teeth respond, and some patients do both: in-office to start, trays to maintain it. We will be honest about what whitening can and cannot do. It works beautifully on natural enamel and not at all on crowns or fillings, and we will never recommend it over something your mouth actually needs first.

A veneer is a thin shell of custom porcelain bonded to the front of a tooth. It covers gaps, chips, stubborn stains and misshapen teeth, and because the porcelain is layered to match the translucency of enamel, it reads as your own tooth rather than as dental work. We design them case by case. That starts with a conversation about what you actually want changed, because the most convincing veneers are the ones that keep the character of your smile instead of erasing it. Very little of the tooth is prepared, impressions go to the lab, and you wear a temporary while the final set is made. It is a conservative way to make a small change that shifts the whole smile. We will be honest about what cosmetic work can and cannot do, and we will never recommend it over something your mouth actually needs first.

If you grind your teeth while you sleep, you may be waking up with a sore jaw, headaches, or worn-down edges you have started to notice in the mirror. Many people do it for years without knowing. We make custom sleep appliances in both soft and hard materials, depending on how heavily you grind, fitted to your teeth so the guard stays put and stays comfortable. Usually it is one appointment to take the impression and one to fit it. It is a small, reversible intervention that prevents a very expensive problem later. Grinding quietly flattens enamel, cracks fillings and shortens the life of crowns, and a guard is by far the cheapest way to stop that from happening. It is one of the treatments we recommend most often.

Aligner therapy corrects crowded or crooked teeth, gaps, and bites that do not line up, using a series of clear removable trays instead of brackets and wires. Most adults choose it because nobody can tell they are wearing it. We start by scanning your teeth and mapping the whole sequence, so you can see where you are headed before you commit. Each tray moves the teeth a little further and is worn about twenty to twenty-two hours a day, swapped for the next one every week or two. You take them out to eat and to brush. Treatment usually runs several months to about two years depending on how far the teeth have to travel, with a retainer afterward to hold the result. Not every case suits aligners, and we will tell you plainly if yours does not. We start with an evaluation and a straight answer about whether treatment is worth it for you, and when the right moment to begin is.

We take real pride in our youngest patients' smiles, and we keep their visits lighthearted and short. A child who leaves in a good mood comes back willingly, which matters more at this age than anything we do in the chair. The focus is habits: education and prevention first, so brushing, flossing and regular check-ups become something they simply do rather than something they are made to do.
